Campus Legends Invitational 2024 Concludes with Southeast Asia Success
SINGAPORE, 12 November 2024 – The Campus Legends Invitational (CLI) 2024 has concluded with a milestone achievement, successfully elevating its profile from a national event to a celebrated regional tournament. Produced by the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and C2E4, in partnership with regional national esports associations, this year’s CLI saw participation from teams across Southeast Asia, representing their respective national colleges and competing under their country’s flags. The tournament highlighted competitive prowess and fostered a spirit of friendship, cultural exchange, and learning.
Supported by key partners, including UOB, Acer, Capcom and Moonton, the CLI 2024 featured a range of activities designed to enrich participants’ experiences in Singapore. Esports teams enjoyed learning journeys to XM Studio, a design studio, visits to SCOGA’s esports hub and a behind the scenes production tour of the Campus Game Fest, allowing them to engage deeply and gain insights into Singapore’s design, digital arts culture and esports industry.
In recognition of the expanding talent pool and the educational potential of esports, CLI 2024 also saw an increase in scholarship prizes, thanks to support from UOB. These scholarships aim to reward student-athletes who show promise in both gaming and academics, helping them balance their ambitions with educational commitments.
“UOB is proud to support esports athletes from Singapore and the region as they pursue excellence in academics together with their passions. Regional initiatives such as this underscore the importance of nurturing the talents of aspiring ASEAN youth, and inspiring them to achieve success in every aspect of their lives”, said Giao Pik, UOB Managing Director, Strategic Alliance & Fintech, Group Channels and Digitalisation.
CLI’s Growth Reflects Expanding Opportunities for Aspiring Esports Athletes
“Campus Legends Invitational 2024 has demonstrated the power of regional collaboration and cultural exchange within esports,” said Frank Yong, Managing Director of C2E4. “We are grateful to our sponsors, including UOB, Acer, Capcom and Moonton, whose support has enabled us to expand opportunities and reward our talented youth.”
Looking Forward: Collegiate Esports in Singapore and Beyond
Building on the success of CLI, SCOGA and C2E4 is laying the groundwork for a more robust collegiate esports structure in the coming years. “Together with our partners, we intend to develop the Collegiate Cyberathlete Association (CCA), an initiative that aims to develop the Campus Legends scholarship and awards programme to educate and empower youths to excel through Esports,” said Dennis Ooi, President of SCOGA. ”The CCA will reflect a growing commitment to increase opportunities for our youths to showcase their talent and to take the first step towards a productive and fruitful career.”
With CLI’s achievements and the CCA’s promising future, 2025 is set to be a packed year for Campus Legends, featuring an expanded tournament calendar and exciting new developments in the collegiate esports scene.
